This is why "unlimited" subscriptions are going to go away, because people can't just use what they paid for, they have to drain every bit of value out in every way they can.<p>Things sold as "unlimited" are always done so within some scope that makes it hard to abuse, on purpose. Unlimited free refills, but you can't bring a bucket to take home. Unlimited home bandwidth, but you can't use it to run servers.<p>Yes you can technically do this, but the result is that Cursor will just change their subscription model. Because they rely on the "unlimited" access being within a scope they control that gives them tools to manage volume.
Personally - I think this cuts both ways.<p>Things sold as "unlimited" are often much more expensive for the average user than proper rate based billing would be (see - mobile data, internet data in general, those soft drinks [incl a couple refills] etc...)<p>It's "nice" in that neither party explicitly needs to track usage (although to your point, the company almost always does actually monitor and track), and it can alleviate billing anxiety. But... I'm at the spot where I'd rather things like internet, phone, tokens, etc just cost their damn cost (ex - bill me at the actual costs your company incurs to provide the service, plus some markup).
I must be missing something -- Cursor has no unlimited plan? I'll grant that the usage limits on auto are very generous, though. I think they need to be for Cursor to stay relevant.
To me this doesn't really need an analogy at all, but it would be closer to tethering on a 5g plan you pay for with the same constraints you pay for, which is subtly different than the unlimited home server example. I've never let my telecom provider control which device I'm using to access the internet through them.<p>I'm running Claude Code with Gemma 4 atm and not paying anyone anything, and that's basically what this bridge does as far as I can tell. I dislike Cursor, but was pressured to use it at my last company, and would definitely prefer the CC interface.

Cursor is probably a better client than Claude Code though

what's the fallback when Cursor throttles Auto mid-task? right now it looks like the answer is nothing, you just eat the failure. genuinely asking, not dunking.
You already pay for Cursor. Claude Code costs extra (Anthropic API or Pro). Cursor's auto model is free and unlimited with your subscription.<p>This is a thin shim that makes Claude Code talk to Cursor's backend instead. One command, no setup, no background daemon, no configuration.
